AIRPLANE TO PPL(H)
Using the drop down menu select the FAA rating you wish to obtain, your current highest foreign rating and follow the menu to your results that represents the recommended path to achive your goal. This does not represent the only path as there are various ways to reach your goal using your foreign ratings and training.
Holders of Foreign Airplane Ratings
Make Appointment with FAA DPE
Be issued FAA PPL with foreign ratings held
Pay DPE fee (usually $200)
Obtain M1 Visa
Take a flight review as required by FAR 61.56
If you hold a foreign Instrument rating and would like that rating added to your FAA PPL rating you must take a special FAA Foreign IR written exam BEFORE applying for the FAA PPL based on your foreign
HELICOPTER TO PPL(H)
Holders of Foreign Helicopter Ratings
Make Appointment with FAA DPE
Be issued FAA PPL with foregin ratings held
Pay DPE fee (usually $200)
Take a flight review as required under FAR 61.56
If you hold a foreign Instrument rating and would like that rating added to your FAA PPL rating you must take a special FAA Foreign IR written exam BEFORE applying for the FAA PPL based on your foreign
AIRPLANE TO CPL(H)
Holders of Foreign Airplane Ratings
Make Appointment with FAA DPE
Be issued FAA PPL with foreign ratings held
Pay DPE fee (usually $200)
Take a flight review as required under FAR 61.56
Obtain M1 Visa
Course reduced to 55 hours if you have at least 115 hours PIC airplane
Take FAA CPL(H) written exam
Take FAA CPL(H) check ride
Note if you have the experience requirements for an FAA CPL(A) found in FAR 61.129 you might consider first taking the FAA CPL(A) check ride and then be able to enroll in our CPL Add on Course
HELICOPTER TO CPL(H)
Holder of Foreign Helicopter Ratings
Make Appointment with FAA DPE
Be issued FAA PPL with foreign ratings held
Pay DPE fee (usually $200)
Take a flight review as required under FAR 61.56
Obtain M1 Visa
Take FAA CPL(H) written exam
Take FAA CPL(H) check ride
*Note course time may be reduced to 3 hours if you have have the experience required outlined in FAR 61.129(c) Only the three hours of preparation for the practical is required to be done by a US instructor

Holder of Foreign ATP(A) or CPL(A)IR
Take FAA ATP(A) written exam
Make Appointment with FAA DPE
Take ATP(A) SEL check ride
Obtain M1 Visa
Take FAA ATP(H) written exam
Take FAA ATP(H) check ride
HELICOPTER TO ATP(H)
Holder of Foreign ATP(H) or CPL(H)IR
Take FAA ATP(H) written exam
Make Appointment with FAA DPE
Take ATP(H) check ride
Note you must have the aeronautical experience requirements found in FAR 61.161 you must hold at a minimum a foreign CPL(H) with instrument rating.

You do not require any training however we can provide proficiency training before the check ride. Should you fail the check ride you will require training and instructor endorsement in which case you will need to be on an M1 Visa. For this reason we recommend getting the VIsa before coming.
